Installation
  • You don't depend on an Internet connection during the installation
  • You can share the data on different computers
  • You can reuse the data at any time later

But it has its downsides as well.

  • You transfer a lot of data that you don't actually need
  • You need up to 6 blank CDs
  • Due to size limitations of CD images, you get only a subset of all packaged software for openSUSE.

Workflow for the local installation

  1. Download ISO images.
  2. Burn ISO images to blank CD
  3. Boot your system with the first CD
  4. Install openSUSE
